Registrations open for Hypo Awareness Week 2025
We anticipate we will receive pharmaceutical sponsorship for this event. As soon as the sponsorship is confirmed, the details will be added to the website and all promotional materials where appropriate.
Hypo Awareness Week is back from 6 to 12 October 2025, uniting healthcare professionals across the UK and Ireland to shine a spotlight on the risks of hypoglycaemia.
The campaign is designed to boost knowledge of hypoglycaemia, often referred to as a hypo, which occurs when blood glucose levels drop too low. Without prompt treatment, hypos can lead to serious complications and in some cases become life-threatening.
Last year, the campaign saw almost 400 healthcare sites take part, delivering impactful education and awareness activities across primary and secondary care. This year’s event aims to build on that momentum, helping more teams strengthen their approach to hypo prevention and care.
“Hypo Awareness Week offers an essential platform for all healthcare professionals involved in diabetes care to come together and learn” said event manager Emily Mayhew.`
“Participants play a crucial role in spreading awareness among colleagues, especially those in non-specialist roles, helping to ensure safer and more effective care for people at risk of hypos particularly in hospital settings.”
Hypoglycaemia remains a significant concern for people living with diabetes and for those admitted to hospital, where it is linked with higher rates of complications and poorer outcomes.
As part of the campaign free printed and digital resources are available to all registered sites to help teams plan and deliver local campaigns. Early registration is advised to ensure timely delivery of campaign packs.
