Join Spirit Health Foundation’s ‘Reach the Peak’ challenge to help save lives around the world

Spirit Health Foundation is calling on individuals and teams to take part in its Ben Nevis Fundraising Challenge 2025, ‘Reach the Peak’, from Friday 26 to Sunday 28 September 2025.

The Foundation is inviting participants to trek the UK’s highest mountain to raise vital funds that will help bring life-saving healthcare to some of the world’s most underserved communities.

Over half of the world’s population still can’t access basic healthcare. Billions of people –particularly women and children – live too far from clinics, lack routine health checks and miss out on early treatment. Every two minutes a mother dies from preventable causes and more than 6,000 newborns lose their lives each day unnecessarily.

Preventable deaths from infectious diseases like HIV and TB as well as chronic conditions such as heart disease and cancer remain alarmingly high. Worryingly, the situation is worsening as vital development funding continues to be cut.

Spirit Health Foundation is changing this by equipping local health workers with smart technology to enable faster diagnosis and life-saving care in the most underserved communities.

Rich Bryson, Chief Executive Officer of Spirit Health Foundation said: “It’s been a really tough year for global health and for the communities we support, with growing need and shrinking funding.

“Our Foundation’s work is already saving lives. But we urgently need more funding to scale it to many more communities in need. Our goal is to ensure 30 million people receive healthcare within 5 years – particularly mothers and children.

“Please donate today. A donation of £35 can support 500 people with critical healthcare.
Every minute costs lives. Every donation saves lives”

Funds raised through the ‘Reach the Peak’ challenge will help equip local health workers in Kenya, Ethiopia, Eswatini and South Africa with Clinitouch – a powerful smart screening and monitoring platform that enables earlier diagnosis and life-saving care in even the hardest to reach communities.

Since launching in 2023, the Foundation has reached 40,000 people so far using Clinitouch, generously donated by Spirit Health which allows healthcare professionals to monitor a wide range of conditions – including COPD, diabetes, hypertension and mental health –through a combination of health questionnaires and real-time data.

This innovative technology is already saving lives, but recent international funding cuts have made the Foundation’s mission even more urgent.

Spirit Health Foundation will organise the challenge weekend and provide participants with full support, including fundraising guidance and promotional resources.

Rich added “Don’t be put off by the word ‘trek’, we are taking an accessible route and by joining us, you’ll be helping take healthcare to the people who need it most.”
