Winners announced at the Diabetes Nursing Awards 2025

The winners of the Diabetes Nursing Awards 2025 were revealed at a prestigious ceremony in London last week, celebrating excellence, innovation and dedication in diabetes care.

Held at the Radisson Blu, Bloomsbury on Friday 6 June, the event brought together finalists and their colleagues for an inspiring evening hosted by broadcaster and GP Dr Sarah Jarvis MBE.

Around 100 guests enjoyed a celebratory dinner and awards ceremony, recognising outstanding contributions to diabetes nursing.

This year’s winners are:

  • Community DSN of the Year – Stamp Out Diabetes, Stanley Medical Group

  • Inpatient DSN of the Year – Sharon Jones, Cromwell Hospital

  • Innovation Award – Sam Whittle, University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust

  • Diabetes Educator of the Year – Sharon Jones, Cromwell Hospital

  • Excellence Award – Diabetic Service Ophthalmology, Kettering General Hospital

·       Paediatric Nurse of the Year – Ealing Hospital Paediatric Diabetes Team, London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust

  • Research Project of the Year – Andrea Lake, Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

  • Rising Star Award – Paige Bell, Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust

Emily Mayhew, organiser of the Diabetes Nursing Awards said: “We are thrilled to honour these remarkable individuals and teams who go above and beyond in the care and support they provide to people living with diabetes. Their dedication, creativity and commitment to professional excellence truly deserve to be recognised.”

Double award-winner Sharon Jones who picked up both the Diabetes Educator of the Year and Inpatient DSN of the Year awards said: “This award recognises a lifetime of work and I am hugely grateful to win. Education is key to those working with people living with diabetes and I plan to keep working hard to raise the profile of this condition”.

Paige Bell, Rising Star of the Year Award winner added: “It means so much to win! It’s lovely to be recognised and I would not want to do any other job than work with people living with diabetes”.
