Registrations now open for Insulin Safety Week 2026

Insulin Safety Week 2026 anticipates that the event will receive sponsorship from pharmaceutical and medical technology companies. As soon as sponsorship is confirmed, the details will be added to the relevant pages of the Insulin Safety Week website and on Insulin Safety Week promotional materials, where appropriate.

Following a record-breaking 2025 that saw 800 healthcare sites participate, Insulin Safety Week is returning this year from May 11 to 17.

The central aim of Insulin Safety Week remains the same – to strengthen awareness of insulin safety across healthcare settings – however the campaign will once again explore how rapid advances in technology are changing diabetes care.

Advances in diabetes technology are transforming how insulin is prescribed, delivered and monitored. From smart insulin pens and insulin pumps linked to monitoring apps to continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) and hybrid closed-loop systems that reduce the day-to-day burden of self-management, innovation is reshaping care.

Alongside this digital education tools, clinical decision-support systems and improved data sharing across services are helping to provide clearer insights, build confidence for both clinicians and people living with diabetes and reduce the risk of error.

Against this backdrop, this year’s focus is on ensuring all healthcare professionals – whether specialists or non-specialists – feel confident using and supporting these technologies as part of routine clinical practice.

By registering for Insulin Safety Week 2026, healthcare teams will gain access to a range of practical digital and printed resources, designed to support local activities and conversations around diabetes technology and best practice. These materials aim to help nurses, doctors and wider healthcare teams navigate an evolving clinical landscape, while reducing the risk of insulin-related harm.

Emily Mayhew, Event Manager, said: “Insulin Safety Week creates a shared space for healthcare professionals to refresh their knowledge of insulin therapy and build confidence in using new diabetes technologies safely.

“By focusing on learning and teamwork, we can continue to improve care and reduce avoidable risks for people living with diabetes.”

Healthcare professionals from the UK and Northern Ireland can register to take part here.
